The Landkreis Kassel is one of five counties in the northern part of the federal state of Hesse. It is both responsible administrative authority and policy maker. The Landkreis Kassel (regional authority of the county) has already initiated and implemented various projects on climate change and CO2 savings. Avoidance of emissions and climate protection have been strongly pronounced during the processes of Local Agenda 21, the initiatives of the municipalities of the climate alliance and other initiatives for environmental protection. The LKK has been intensively collaborating with all regional schools on the issue of environmental protection and climate change issues. LKK was leading partner in the previous Eu-funded projects JEM! and CLIMES.
BUPNET GmbH, Goettingen, Germany
BUPNET, founded in 1985, is an adult education provider and has as its mission the promotion of innovation in education and training. BUPNET has successfully completed several training courses in various sectors both in the framework of European and national funded projects. In 2001, BUPNET developed its own multilingual eLearning and collaboration platform that has been integral part of an awarded LIFE Environment project and various other EU- and national projects. BUPNET has considerable experience in European projects on the theme of education, training and eLearning and was involved in the development and delivery of three Grundtvig training courses with an international audience. BUPNET was leading partner in the previous Eu-funded projects JEM! and CLIMES.

The THS-Baunatal is a secondary school with about 950 students. The school programme puts a special emphasis on environmental education Due to its numerous activities carried out in this area, the school has been awarded several time with the title “Umweltschule”, environmental school. THS-Baunatal took part in the EU-project CLIMES.
Bundeshandelsakademie 1, BHAK, Wels, Austria
The Austrian secondary school “Bundeshandelsakademie I” (BHAK I) is located in Wels in Upper Austria. The BHAK has about 700 pupils and students between 15-19/20 and between 18-30 years on vocational training. BHAK 1 took part in the EU-project CLIMES.

E.N.T.E.R. is a non-profit association which aims to support European Union strategies through the dissemination and exploitation of project results funded by European programmes for the benefit of all European citizens. The network member organisations include ministries, chambers, social partners, associations, other networks, private organisations, SMEs, NGOs, universities, training organisations, schools, environmental organisations and social bodies.
Duca degli Abruzzi, Elmas, Cagliari, Italy
The agricultural technical and vocational secondary school “Duca degli Abruzzi” was founded in 1885. Till 1996, the school was located in the heart of Cagliari, the Sardinian capital, being for more than 100 years the reference point for all studies related to agriculture and environment. In 1996, it moved to a larger complex surrounded by 34 ha of agrarian land in the surroundings of Cagliari. Own products (wine, oil, honey, olives, vegetables etc.) are sold in the school-owned shop. The institute has about 400 students, who can take different graduations: agrarian technician, professional for agriculture and environment. Duca degli Abruzzi was actively involved in the EU-projects JEM! and CLIMES introducing an environmental management system based on EMAS.
Source International ONLUS, Pisa, Italy
Source International is a non-profit organisation that works with communities dealing with environmental pollution and health problems principally caused by extractive industries. Source provides adult education courses and trainings and offers high-level technological and scientific support completely free of charge to the communities, with whom it works, helping them to assess the damage to the community’s resources and enabling them to promote restorative actions. Source is now supporting the agricultural technical and vocational secondary school of Pisticci Scalo (MT) to monitor the Basento river pollution due to oil extraction.

KnowlEdge Srl (KE) is an Italian limited liability consulting company with presence in Varese, Italy and in Geneva, Switzerland. Founded in 2010, KE focuses on the analysis and documentation of complex systems through System Dynamics and other simulation techniques in order to find solutions, synergies and new opportunities. KE is part of a wide network of (1) sustainability and ecological living advocates, experienced in environmental sustainability, (2) climate scientists and physicists, qualified in non-linear, complex systems and dynamic integrated models, (3) engineers and economists, involved with planning and sustainability assessments.
Kossuth Zsuzsanna Vocational Technical Secondary School, Dabas, Hungary
KZS was founded in 1990. The school is administered by the Local Government of Dabas. Nevertheless, the school is autonomous as far as decisions regarding the organisation, functioning and budget are concerned. The number of students is almost 1000 and altogether 67 people as teaching staff. As for the teaching fields, the school covers the following ones: vocational education and remedial vocational training. The school has a special team of seven people who develop 3D/4D projects. They create interactive learning objects for education and demonstration purposes. KLIK took part in the EU-project CLIMES.

Värmdö Gymnasium (VGY) is a public general secondary school. Its aims are: education for the future, student empowerment, internationalisation, exciting education and personal development. VGY provides education within natural sciences, social sciences, and aesthetics. VGY has always had a main focus on sustainable development resulting in a broad methodological and technical experience. Sustainability and climate change adaptation is a central part of the curriculum in the special field of nature. The school wants to give their students a global and holistic view on questions regarding environmental development. This is achieved by international exchange programmes and interdisciplinary school projects. The VGY took part in the EU-project CLIMES.

Aizputes secondary school (AVS) is a general secondary school situated in western part of Latvia in a town called Aizpute. AVS was founded in 1921.There are currently more than 480 pupils (age between 7 and 19) with different social and cultural backgrounds and 57 teachers. AVS was selected for the CLIMES Award 2012.
